| "Faust" Reef Triggerfish |
We had several saltwater aquariums right after we got married. Faust was one of the first fish to join, and lived the longest (over four years). He was always amusing, and would rise to the top of the water in the tank to be "petted"! Triggerfish have long, powerful jaws and sharp teeth so they can crush the shells of crabs, shrimp, or other tasty creatures! The Reef Triggerfish (Rhinecanthus rectangulus) is also called Rectangular Triggerfish. It is the state fish of Hawai'i, where it is called humuhumukunukuapua'a. |
